Enrique Márquez has always defended the electoral route as the way to get Venezuela out of the long authoritarian night in which it finds itself. The opposition, in this last year, has changed tactics and is confident of defeating at the polls to Maduro.

He assures that Venezuela needs a period of peace and reconciliation after years of confrontation. “Even if Chavismo doesn't want to, it must accept its defeat,” he says. ‘There is no messianic or personalist solution. The Government is going to intervene to prevent it.’
