Environmental toxins in the holiday paradise: Pesticide contamination has been proven as far away as the mountains of South Tyrol. Nearly 30 pesticides detected, including in remote mountain valleys and mountain peaks.
Pesticides also have also been detected at higher altitudes. Nearly half of the samples found in Vinschgau were insecticides, which has been banned in Germany since 2018. In total, 27 pesticides, including ten insecticides and six herbicides, were detected in the region. The study was published in the journal Communications Earth & Environment.
