Microsoft and Quantinuum have been able to create 4 logical qubits without errors using just 30 physical qubits. A technique applied on qubits made from trapped ions, a technology different from that of IBM which is based on superconductors and quite similar to that of QuEra which develops neutral atom processors, which had just recently achieved similar goals. “We are in a transition phase, possible thanks to these important improvements, to which each one gives a different name but which in essence is leading us towards the creation of truly reliable machines with practical usefulness”, concluded Simone Montangero.
