Mayor (LR) of Étampes Franck Marlin was taken into police custody on Wednesday. He was questioned on suspicion of embezzlement of public funds.
The 59-year-old elected official was released without prosecution. An investigation is underway to find out whether or not he unduly benefited from sums of public money. “The alleged facts are extremely serious. Once again, our city sees its image damaged,” reacted the opposition group Étamps en Commun on its Facebook page.
