Lufthansa and ITA have presented new commitments to the European Commission to obtain the green light for the wedding. The deadline for the EU decision is set for 6 June.

Under the lens of Brussels there are in particular several short-haul routes that connect Italy with central Europe. Some intercontinental routes between Italy and the USA, Canada and Japan, and the dominant position of ITA on Milan-Linate. The parties have presented commitments aimed at resolving the preliminary competition problems" identified and indicating that the proposed solutions will now be "carefully" evaluated. The proposed solutions have been submitted to the EU executive itself and will be considered by the European Commission on June 6. The European Commission is expected to make a decision on the matter by the end of the month.
