An 18-year-old young man was in police custody on Friday for the murder of a retired couple in Combres (Eure-et-Loir) A neighbor of the retired couple had warned the gendarmes on Wednesday of the presence of two inanimate bodies in the garden of their residence. The two victims “presented a swollen and sunken face” as well as numerous wounds caused by a bladed weapon, particularly on the neck.

The suspect was still being questioned by investigators on Friday and must be referred to the prosecution on Saturday. A judicial investigation will be opened for “voluntary homicides preceded, accompanied or followed by another crime”. The suspect would have been 18 years old at the time of the murder. The motive and circumstances of the double homicide remain unclear, announced the Chartres prosecutor's office. The young man “quickly admitted to being the author of this double intentional homicide”, said the public prosecutor of Chartres.
