Eurovelo 3, the Camino de Santiago for 'bicigrinos' is not made up of bike lanes, but rather takes advantage of existing paths and roads. Many times, cyclists have to go out onto national roads with a lot of traffic to avoid getting in the way of walkers.

For walkers it is a real nuisance to have to continually move aside due to the arrival of cyclists. Eurovelo is a European network of cycle routes that began to be designed in 1995, although the first cycle path as such was not put into operation until 2001.
