Chloe Stein claimed she was kidnapped by a robber with a gun and mask, but later confessed to the police that she had made up the whole story. Stein now faces a slew of charges, including false alarms from a public safety agency, false reports, disorderly conduct, obstruction of law and other government actions.
Her family believed Stein would soon graduate from Penn State Greater Allegheny College, but a university official told police she hadn't been there for a year and a half. The search for her cost "tens of thousands of dollars" in personnel and equipment.
