Giorgi Janelidze, 23, fell to his death in Roghudi Vecchio, an abandoned mountain village in the Italian region of Calabria. The Georgia-born influencer was filming a promotional video for a fitness product.

Study shows that the selfie poses a greater risk of death than a shark attack: in 2023, ten people worldwide died from such an attack, compared to 69 in total last year. Almost half of the accident victims recorded in the study came from India. The most common cause of death for selfie victims: falling into the depths. In some cases, especially in the USA, a fatal shot was fired while posing with a weapon. The study was published in the Journal of Family Medicine and Primary Care, which is no more recent than in 2011.
