Surfrider Foundation carried out a sampling campaign for six months. The samples show high concentrations of two bacteria indicative of fecal contamination.
The period analyzed is not part of the period planned for swimming in the Seine. The association asks, in an open letter, for accessibility to the event venues "before and during" the Games to be able to continue making their own decisions there. The triathlon events will take place on July 30 and 31 and August 5 and the open water swimming, now called marathon swimming, on August 8 and 9.
