The federal government will increase the refugee allowance to the states this year by one billion euros. This was announced by Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) after federal-state talks on refugee policy in Berlin.

In order to relieve the burden on Germany's municipalities, asylum procedures are also to be accelerated and deportations are to be enforced more consistently. The federal and state governments have postponed a fundamental decision on permanently higher federal funds for refugee costs. According to the information, expanded responsibilities of the Federal Police and improved exchange of information between judicial and immigration authorities were also agreed.
