Fernando Clavijo Batlle is the president of the Canary Islands. He warns that the situation will be “catastrophic” if young people are not transferred to the Peninsula.

The islands concentrated 70% of irregular migrant arrivals in 2023, a figure that broke the record of the cayucos crisis of 2006.
