A violent hailstorm hit the northern part of Lake Garda on Tuesday (30 May) This caused flooding in the holiday town of Torbole. The hailstones produced images that are only seen in winter.

There are no reports of casualties, but a mobile home slipped into the lake. The extreme drought played a major role in this, as the amount of water in the lake has decreased considerably. More showers are forecast around the Mediterranean in the coming days, which could cause more flooding.
