So far this year, 19 detainees have escaped from Buenos Aires wardens and police stations. The last case was this Monday in Villa Urquiza.

Seven were recaptured. Almost three quarters of prisoners housed in cells should be in prison. The cells that depend on the City Police are places of transit and not prolonged detention. The situation of those detained in the City is not a minor detail: those who are in detention must wait for trial in judicial wardens or prisons, according to the National Penitentiary Prosecutor's Office, at the end of March of this year. The first of the escapes of this 2024 was on March 4, in Villa Crespo. Then, on March 31, a large escape was perpetrated in the Alcaidía Quinquies, on Peru at 100, in San Telmo. Fifteen prisoners revolted and tried to escape, nine of them successfully. And six days later another fugitive fell, in the town of Zavaleta. Six of them were not found.
