Florida abortion ban prompts two southern states to prepare for large number of patients. Starting in May, those who live in Florida and wish to have an abortion after six weeks of pregnancy will have to travel to states such as North Carolina or Virginia.

Florida clinics anticipated the new state law, so they already trained additional staff to perform ultrasounds and confirm pregnancies. They are opening up more appointments scheduled for the next 30 days for people to come in, Michelle Quesada, vice president of marketing for Planned Parenthood of the South and North Carolina said.
