Fluminense beat Liga de Quito 2-0 to win the Recopa Sudamericana title. Colombian John Arias scored twice in the last 15 minutes of the match.

Fluminense had lost the previous two finals at the Maracaná to the Ecuadorian team. The Rio team needed at least a two-goal advantage to win after having lost 1-0 in the first leg of the final. The Brazilian side lost the Libertadores title to Boca in the previous round.
