One hundred children from the Pieraccini primary school in Poggibonsi have visited the Foci waste-to-energy plant in recent days to learn about the function of the plant. By using this waste, every year the plant produces electricity equal to the needs of around 40 thousand families, avoiding the release into the atmosphere of 20 thousand tonnes of CO2 compared to fossil fuels.

During the visit, explains Sienambiente which manages the plant, "thanks to a laboratory on separate waste collection and thematic games focused on the concept of transformation, the students were able to understand, while having fun, how even from value can be obtained from non-recyclable waste" The students stopped in front of the mural by the artist Martoz which "represents waste management in an artistic form: from on one side there is recyclable waste from which new objects can be produced thanks to recycling; on the other there is non- recyclable Waste which can be used to produce electricity"
