Berthoud, or melted Abondance and wine, is a little-known, confidential dish. Served in around fifty restaurants in France alone, of which 56 are in Savoie or Haute-Savoie.

A union, created in 2019 by restaurateurs to prevent Berthoud from ending up like another Savoyard specialty, tartiflette: a distorted recipe, sometimes prepared with cheeses other than Reblochon. In 2020, Berthod became a guaranteed traditional specialty (STG) This label protects the original recipe cited above.
