Former Ecuadorian vice president Jorge Glas is "stable" after being hospitalized for an alleged drug overdose. The revelation was made by members of the Citizen Revolution movement.

It was reported that the transfer to the medical facility took place amid tight security measures. A source at the La Roca maximum security prison, where the vice president is detained, revealed that Glass apparently "had taken two or three pills for gastritis," but, he indicated, that "his intention was not to commit suicide" Glas fled to the Mexican embassy on December 17 to seek asylum because he said he was being politically persecuted.
