Most animal shelters charge a protection fee of between 50 and 200 euros per cat. You can't just pick up your new cat for free. Young kittens will usually adapt quickly to life with you. Older animals usually need time to get used to the new situation. So be prepared that it may take some time to make a new friend familiar. Get familiar with your new friend.
