François Bayrou is to be sentenced Monday on his fate in the affair of the assistants of UDF and MoDem MEPs. The prosecution requested against him 30 months of suspended imprisonment, a fine of 70,000 euros and three years of suspended ineligibility.
The investigation into the MoDem was opened following the report of a far-right MEP, Sophie Montel. In this case, Marine Le Pen's party will be referred to justice in the fall of 2024 for suspicion of embezzlement.
