France “could have stopped the genocide” in Rwanda but “did not have the will”, says Macron. The President of the Republic had already recognized in 2021 the “responsibilities” of France in the genocide.

He will speak on Sunday for the 30th anniversary of the massacre. The French president will not attend the commemorations in Kigali, Rwanda, on Sunday, the Élysée said. The commemorations will take place in memory of a million children, women and men martyred.
