José Javier Arizkuren Ruiz, former military leader of ETA, is to be tried in Spain. He is accused of ordering the kidnapping and murder of Miguel Ángel Blanco.
Blanco, a councilor of the PP of Ermua, was killed by the gang in July 1997. Kantauri has been in Spain for years serving a sentence for other acts, and is currently out of prison with an electronic bracelet for health reasons. If convicted, he could be sentenced to between 20 and 30 years for the crime of murder.
