France to repatriate the remains of six French soldiers who died in Diên Bien Phu. These remains had been reported to the French embassy in Vietnam in 2012, 2021 and 2022.

Upon their arrival in France, they will be examined for possible identification. Families who wish could obtain the restitution of the bodies or opt for burial in a national necropolis. Nearly 2,300 French soldiers officially lost their lives during the Battle of diên bien phu alone, from March 13 to May 7, 1954.
