From 'out of season' eggs the first chicken farms. This is revealed by the numerous shells discovered in the remains of settlements along the Silk Road in China in the 5th century BC.

Modern hens are able to lay around 200 eggs every year and do so independently of the seasons, an almost unique case in the animal world. There is still no certainty about the times and origins of the domestication of chickens, but it is believed that this occurred in Central Asia between 4,000 and 8,000 years ago.
