Sardinia also boasts the first two female mayors in Italy, Margherita Sanna and Giovanna Bartoli. The first female councilor in Sardinia was Pierina Falchi from Nuoro who led the Department of Public Education in the 1950s. In 1968 you were also undersecretary of the Ministry of Health.
