The start-up founded by Seyoung Lee, 27, and several classmates fresh out of university occupies the top floor of a brand new building in the south of the capital of Asia's fourth largest economy. Launched a year ago while riding the ChatGPT wave, the Wrtn application has experienced spectacular growth with 1.5 million users.

The start-up is already looking beyond the peninsula, with an office opened in Tokyo last November. The country intends to preserve its technological advance and resist the assaults of the American and Chinese giants. The Wrtn app is the first super app powered by AI in Asia. The app is available on Android and iOS and is expected to be rolled out to other platforms in the coming months. The company is based in South Korea but has offices in Japan and the U.S. It is also developing its own version of Google's search engine, called Google Assistant, which will be available on iOS and Android in the next few months.
