Citizens' initiative against the Schlierseer Hof in Schliersee is causing trouble. Many tourism professionals see it completely differently.

The short example was a Hotel Edelweiß that was already stopped by the court. The key point is and remains the size of the planned building. The developer doesn't want to change the wording of the referendum process. If it's unlikely that anything will emerge that will be a lot in exchange for the new hotel, then there will be no need to hold a referendum at the start of the planning process, says the mayor of Schlier see, Hans-Joachim Schulte. The project is “so out of proportion in terms of scale, site compatibility and site structure”, says ex-district architect Werner Pawlovsky, who described the project as ‘out of proportion’ in his article for the Architecture Forum. The “Uwama Bay” brand that the de Alwis have registered is now arousing suspicion among the citizens’ initiative.
