Gardenia is a semi-hardy shrub native to Asia and South Africa. The shrub can grow up to four meters high.

It is recommended to plant it in deep, light, neutral, well-drained soil with an acidic pH. It will do best in regions with a mild climate throughout the year, even if this shrub is hardy and slow-growing. More than 200 species of gardenias have been recorded to date across the four corners of the planet.
