Astrophotography veteran Marcella Giulia Pace took the images of Etna. Of the two works, 13 were recognized by NASA as astrophotography of the day (Apod) The image shows rings of volcanic gas which, illuminated by the twilight, take on reddish shades.

In this enchanting scenario, you can also notice a delicate crescent moon emerging on the side of the volcano, says Pace, of the Italian Amateur Astronomers Union. "This photo not only captures a moment of rare beauty but is also a witness to the power and magic of nature, which continues to surprise us with its spectacles", says Pace. The photo was taken from Bronte, from where on the morning of March 6, one could observe the alignment of the moon rising with the volcano.   The photo, continues Pace, "was possible thanks to the favorable weather and wind conditions, but above all to the constant emission of gas rings from the volcano"
