The UN Security Council adopted its first resolution on Monday demanding an “immediate ceasefire” in Gaza. The resolution adopted by 14 votes in favor, with one abstention.

It “demands an immediate ceasefire for the month of Ramadan’, which already began two weeks ago. It should ‘lead to a lasting ceasefire’ and ‘demands the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages.’ The United States this time abstained from the vote, as it has done several times before.
