President Fernández said there is a "self-constructed inflation" in small merchants. The inflation rate for April was 7.7%, according to the UCR National Committee.

The president also said he spoke to Economy Minister Sergio Massa about the problem. The head of the opposition party in the Buenos Aires City Council also said there was a "psychological" problem with the inflation. The UCR said the president's comments were "disrespectful" to the people of Argentina.
