Leading business associations are disappointed with Scholz. German companies are increasingly investing abroad, while foreign investments in Germany are decreasing.
The faltering German investments are particularly noticeable compared to other business locations worldwide. According to the IfW forecast, between now and the end of 2025, investments are likely to increase by only two percent overall. There is no question that this cannot make up for the losses during the corona pandemic. In one economic area, however, Germany is doing significantly better than other countries in the euro area: in climate-neutral energy technologies, as an analysis by the Bruegel Institute shows.. Experts warn that the investment lull could become dramatic. The investment weakness currently extends across the entire euro area. The IfW expects fixed investment to decline by 1.3 percent compared to the level before the Corona crisis. In the USA, for example, the institute expects investments to increase. by a total of 10.8 percent. In Great Britain and Japan, the situation there is developing significantly more positively than here.
