Germans' fear of war is increasing: Hope lies in NATO. Six out of ten Germans support a joint army between the EU states.

The majority of Germans, 69 percent, say that Europe is safer thanks to the EU. While supporters of the Greens (93 percent) are most likely to see the EU as a guarantor of peace. The question of whether EU states should work more closely together has also been on the table for a long time - and has gained momentum again due to the war in Ukraine.
