Germans are worried about their pensions: Voluntary payments in the statutory pension are at a record high. In 2022, contributors paid more than one billion euros (1.09) in voluntary additional benefits into the pension fund for the first time.

“People trust the German pension insurance,” says MP Matthias W. Birkwald, pension and age policy spokesman for the Left in the Bundestag. ‘You can’t speculate with your pension,’ says BirKwald.
