Germany recorded a decline of 0.3% in its GDP in the fourth quarter of 2023, according to an estimate published Tuesday. The last quarter further confirms the weakness of Europe's leading economy.

The National Statistical Office Destatis announced earlier in January that the German economy also contracted by 0.4% over the whole of 20 23. The German economy is the largest in Europe. It is also the fastest-growing economy in the world, followed by the U.S. and Britain.
