[HIGHLIGHTS] Gironde: a spectacular operation to rescue a former military ship in difficulty

Former frigate of the French Navy, the Cassard, was on its way to join the deconstruction site of the Grand maritime port of Bordeaux, in Bassens. A broken trailer required a major operation, with a team being hoisted onto the ship by helicopter.

The Cassard is one of eight warships intended to be dismantled as part of an exceptional deconstruction project which will extend until 2026. A helicopter based in La Rochelle had to be sent to the site to hoist a GPMB port team onto the hull.
