Florent Fatin, the centrist mayor of Pauillac, was dining with family in a restaurant that he had privatized. Two individuals appeared on the threshold of the establishment to pick a fight with him around 8 p.m.

The mayor then grabbed a plastic chair from the terrace to ward off the blow, before hitting his attacker with it. The latter, who was still trying to fight when he was overpowered by the elected official, was taken to the Bordeaux University Hospital, his face bleeding.
