Around a hundred migrants were spotted on Gavdos, a Mediterranean islet south of Crete. The islet has become a gateway to the EU for asylum seekers leaving from Africa.

Since the start of the year, a thousand asylum seekers have arrived on the islet, including many unaccompanied minors. The majority of the migrants are from African countries, according to the Greek Ministry of Migration. The island has a population of 50, and the majority of its inhabitants are from the African country of origin.
