Green light from the EU Council to cut fluorinated gases. The approval came during the General Affairs Council which began this morning.
According to the new rules, the consumption of hydrofluorocarbons will be completely eliminated by 2050. On the other hand, the production of HydrofluorOCarbons, in terms of production rights assigned by the Commission, will be gradually reduced to a minimum (15%) starting from 2036. Both the production and consumption will be reduced on the basis of a tight schedule with a decreasing allocation of quotas.
