A fire destroyed seven homes in Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe, on Sunday morning. Mayor Harry Durimel said that the building at the origin of the fire appeared to be "at the center of an obvious abandonment procedure" The mayor denounced the scourge of joint ownership, responsible according to him for the departure of residents.

A charred body was also discovered after a fire which completely destroyed a wooden and sheet metal shed in Abymes, a town in Grande-Terre.
