The Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin ordered Wednesday evening April 17 the establishment of two months of a curfew for minors under 18 years of age in Pointe-à-Pitre. The measure is in order to fight against an outbreak of delinquency.

"The State will not allow delinquency to take place which we see is increasingly young and which is more armed," he told the media who followed him during a trip through the streets in Guadeloupe. He also announced the launch of "Net Place operations," like what is being done in France, "to fight against drugs, to fight. against deal points, but also to fight against the circulation of weapons,' he said. He specified that these operations, which mobilized police, gendarmes, and customs officers, began on Monday and would continue throughout the coming month. The curfew will be effective from 8 p.m. until the end of next week.
