Northvolt is a Swedish company that was founded in 2016 by former Tesla employees Peter Carlsson and Paolo Cerruti, among others. The new factory is expected to create 3,000 new jobs, with production scheduled to start in 2026. The federal and state governments are investing over 900 million euros in the Northvolt project.
