Half of current accounts have become more expensive in the last two years - one institution in particular stands out. 82 percent of those surveyed have to pay fees for their checking account.

Many banks are increasing account fees: just under half have a free or low-cost account. It may be worth keeping an eye on account fees and, if necessary, switching. However, if you spend more than 50 euros a year on your account, you should spend more on a range of alternatives. Other criteria such as EC/debit cards and cash withdrawals from ATMs play a role.
