Hamas-Israel war: Australia will once again contribute financially to UNRWA. Around 15 countries, including the United States, Britain, Germany and Japan, suspended funding at the end of January for a total of $450 million.
On October 7, the unprecedented attack carried out in Israel by Hamas commandos infiltrated from Gaza led to the death of at least 1,160 people, the majority civilians. In retaliation, Israel vowed to “annihilate” Hamas and launched a vast military offensive in the Gaza Strip which has left more than 31,300 dead.
