Christian Freiwang has been building yard manager in Hausham, Germany, for 17 years. The 61-year-old will retire at the beginning of 2025 after 36 years in the team.
The team has recently become known for its own projects, such as the bus shelter and park benches. The building yard is now more flexible, so Outsourcing work takes more time, says Freiwangs. The municipality is looking for a successor to his position as soon as possible, he says. The project manager says he is not looking forward to his first hour of retirement: "Let's see what my wife wrote down for me" He adds: "I'm not going to do anything for another hour, I'm going to stay inside for the rest of the day" The team covers almost all trades, with three people entirely involved in renovating apartments that are owned by the municipality. The yard also has a master gardener, who has seen significantly more flowers bloom in recent months.
