The Hauts-de-Seine department saw its surplus reduced to 116 million euros in 2023. An enormous drop which results largely from the real estate crisis and its corollary: the fall in transfer taxes for valuable consideration (DMTO) This tax on all real estate transactions collected by the department increased from 717 million euro in 2022 to 505 million euros  in 2023, according to a report by the city's finance department.

The amount was revealed this Friday morning in a public session.
