Israeli law states that defamation suits may be filed against a person who filed a false complaint with the police. The Supreme Court clarified this ruling in a third incarnation – which is considered rare.

According to the ruling, a person that filed a complaint based on inaccurate data, but believed at the time of filing the complaint that the data was correct, is protected in good faith from a defamation suit. The case involved a dispute between neighbors over parking in the city of Ashdod. The plaintiff also checked and found that there had been a change in the division of parking spaces in the land registry.
