The accident occurred today afternoon just before 4pm on the A1 Milan-Naples at km 357, between the Arezzo and Valdarno toll booths. The mechanical emergency services, the firefighters, the traffic police and the staff of the Autostrade per l'Italia 4° di Firenze intervened at the scene of the event.

Traffic is currently blocked within the closed section and there is an 11 km queue towards Rome and a one km queues towards Florence. No injuries have been reported at the moment. The alternative road system went haywire for numerous cars exiting in Arezzo. The accident happened two kilometers from Arezzo, and involved a heavy vehicle which caught fire following the accident. The motorway is closed, alternative roads are haywire and traffic is moving at a snail's pace. The incident happened at 4pm, and the motorway was closed for around an hour and a half before re-opening at 5pm. The fire was caused by a truck which was involved in a collision with another vehicle.
