Felipe Menéndez is the owner of the Ribera del Cuarzo winery in Valle Azul, Patagonia. The winegrower found water in an arid corner of the province of Río Negro.

He achieved sustainable vineyards when he dug wells and found an underground irrigation source. A pioneer in the region was an Italian countess, Noemí Marone Cinzano, who planted the first 5 hectares of vines in 2001.
